Bioavailability 18-45% CYP P450 inhibitor; may increase digoxin, cisapride, carbamazepine and other medication levels if given concurrently. Check for drug interactions. Rapid IV administration causes severe vein irritation and cardiac arrhythmias (infuse over 60 min. or longer). Avoid IM route or extravasation.
