IV indicated for individuals who are unable to tolerate PO. For use in abnormal uterine bleeding it is recommended that the gynecology service be consulted. Topical therapy may continue as long as 12 weeks but there is an increased risk of systemic estrogen effects (eg breast development, vaginal bleeding). Use antiemetic therapy concurrently to avoid significant nausea. Standard Prescription: estrogen mg IV/IM x 1 dose; repeat in hours PRN estrogen mg PO Q H estrogen cream: apply intravaginally__ (frequency) x__ days |
