ETHACRYNIC ACID (Paeds) (Edecrin) Mechanism of action: loop diuretic Ref: 44 Last update: 2021-02-20	Tablet: 25 mg injection: 50 mg/vial	Children: PO: 1 mg/kg/dose PO once daily Increase at intervals of 2 to 3 days to max of 3 mg/kg/day. IV: 0.5 to 1 mg/kg/dose IV May repeat every 8 to 12 hours if necessary Maximum 100 mg/dose.	Maximum rate of injection is 10 mg over 1 min.; too rapid injection may cause temporary or permanent deafness. Monitor serum electrolytes and fluid balance Loop diuretic for diuresis of patients refractory to conventional diuretic therapy or allergic to sulfonamides Standard Prescription: ethacrynic acid__mg PO Q__H(__mg/kg/day) ethacrynic acid__mg IV Q__H (__mg/kg/dose)
