Injection: 12.5 mg Fe/mL; 5 mL ampoule

Fe refers to elemental iron.
Doses expressed as mg elemental iron.

Children:
Iron Repletion: 1.5 mg/kg IV per dose (maximum=125 mg)

Maintenance: 1 mg/kg IV once weekly adjusted to achieve target iron saturation levels Maximum: 125 mg/dose

Adults:
125 mg/dose IV  

In hemodialysis patients: repletion dosing is typically administered over 8 sequential dialysis sessions.

Adverse effects include hypotension, GI disturbances, fever, rash, myalgia, arthralgias, cramps and headaches.

Hypersensitivity has been reported.

No test doses are required.
