FOLIC ACID DEFICIENCY: Infant/Child/Adolescent: Initial: 0.5-1 mg PO/IV/IM/SC daily for 3-4 weeks, until laboratory evidence of hematologic recovery Maintenance: Infant: 0.1 mg/day PO/IV/IM/SC < 4 yrs old: up to 0.3 mg/day PO/IV/IM/SC > 4 yrs old: 0.4 mg/day PO/IV/IM/SC Note: Multivitamin containing 0.2 mg folic acid may be adequate for maintenance. Adult: 1-5 mg PO daily 1 mg PO daily |
