Correct intravascular volume before initiating norepinephrine. May cause tachycardia, dysrhythmias, headache Central line is preferred. Extravasation can cause tissue necrosis. For treatment of extravasation: Phentolamine 0.1 mL of 0.5 mg/mL is infiltrated intradermally around the site; see phentolamine monograph.
