Tablet: 1.5 mg Emergency contraception dose:
1.5 mg PO x 1 dose.










Copper IUD is the most effective for Emergency Contraception (EC).

Most effective in first 72 hours but may be used up to 5 days (120 hours) after intercourse.

Not effective if taken on the day of, the day just prior to ovulation or after ovulation.

May be less effective in women with BMI > 25. However, hormonal EC maintains some effectiveness regardless of BMI.

The Yuzpe Method of EC uses select oral contraceptives to deliver 2 doses of ethinyl estradiol (100 mcg) and levonorgestrel 500 mcg 12 hours apart This method is less effective and has more adverse effects than levonorgestrel.
