tablet: , 250 mg,500mg injection: 50 mg/mL

Children: IV:
- 2-4mg/kg/dose IV Q6-8H.
- If no response in 4-6 hrs increase to 5-10mg/kg/dose.
- Maximum: 65 mg/kg/24 hr.
PO:
- Initial: 10 mg/kg/24 hr PO div. Q6-12H.
- Increase by 5-10 mg/kg/24 hr PRN Q2 days.
- Maximum: 65 mg/kg/24 hr or 3G/24hr.
Adults:
- IV: 250-1000 mg Q6-8H.
- PO: 250-750 mg Q6-12H.

- IV use for hypertensive crises only (other agents are preferred).
- May require 7 days to achieve maximum effects with PO use.
- Adjust dose in renal impairment
- Use with caution in patients on lithium, haloperidol, propranolol or sympathomimetics and patients with active liver disease.
- May interfere with lab tests such as creatinine,uric acid, catecholamines and give positive Coombs test
