Anti-inflammatory/Immunosuppressive: 0.05-0.8 mg/kg/dose IV Q12H (total daily dose may also be divided up to Q6H) Acute Asthma: 1 mg/kg/dose (max: 60 mg/dose) IV Q6H x 24 hr, then switch to oral dexamethasone when symptoms improve "Pulse Therapy": 10-30 mg IV 10-30 mg/kg/dose (max 1 g/dose) IV once daily x 1-3 days. May be given for various conditions (e.g. polyarticular and systemic juvenile arthritis; SLE, vasculitis, severe glomerular nephritis and dermatomyositis). |
4 mg methylprednisolone = 5 mg prednisone.
