Injection: 0.5 mg/mL | Myasthenia Gravis: Diagnosis (use with atropine) * Children: 0.025-0.04 mg/kg IM x 1. Adults: 0.022 mg/kg IM x 1. Treatment Children: 0.01-0.04 mg/kg/dose IM/IV/SC Q2-4H PRN. Adults: 0.5-2.5 mg/dose IM/IV/SC Q1-3H PRN to maximum 10 mg/24 hr. |
Dose must be titrated to avoid excessive cholinergic effects. * For diagnosis of Myasthenia Gravis, give atropine 0.011 mg/kg IV with, or IM 30 minutes before neostigmine. Antidote for neostigmine is atropine 0.01-0.04 mg/kg/dose. Contraindicated in GI and urinary obstruction. Caution in patients with asthma.
