Incidence of diarrhea is higher than with amoxicillin alone. Daily doses of clavulanic acid over 10 mg/kg/day are linked with higher risk of excessive diarrhea Acute otitis media dose (7:1 formulation) may be achieved with the 4:1 formulation by giving 40 mg/kg/24 hr amoxicillin/clavulanic acid with 40-50 mg/kg/24 hr plain amoxicillin. ^ For infections caused by Gram-negative infections such as intra-abdominal, complicated UTI, and severe, invasive infections.
