Mechanism of action:

Beta-lactam antibiotic.

Last update: 2019-08-23		 Injection: 3 g, 4 g per vial Children:
50-75 mg/kg/dose IV Q6H OR 35-50 mg/kg/dose IV Q4H.

Adults:
3-4 g/dose IV Q4-6H. Maximum: 24 g/24 hr

Cystic Fibrosis Patients:
150 mg/kg/dose IV Q6H. Maximum: 24 g/24 hr.
Effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Contains 1.85 mEq sodium per gram.

Dosage adjustment required in renal impairment.

May dilute with 0.5-1% lidocaine (without epinephrine) for IM use.
