Mechanism of action:

Non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocker. Binds with cholinergic receptors at the myoneural junction.

Injection: 50 mg/5 mL vial Neuromuscular blocker:
Usual dose: 1 mg/kg/dose IV Q20 to 30 min PRN
(range 0.5 to 1.2 mg/kg/dose IV)
Neuromuscular blockers do not provide analgesia or sedation. Ensure patient has adequate analgesia and sedation prior to and during use.

Dosage is based on actual body weight even if patient is obese.

Increased neuromuscular blockade may occur if patient is also receiving aminoglycosides, clindamycin, or magnesium sulfate.

Decreased effects may be seen if patient is also receiving carbamazepine, phenytoin, azathioprine or theophylline.)
