Phenothiazine with antipruritic and antihistaminic properties with anticholinergic and sedative side effects

Last update: 2021-02-20		 Tablet: 2.5 mg, 5 mg Pruritis:

Children:
  • 6 Months to 3 years old: 1.25 mg PO at HS or 1.25 mg PO TID PRN.
  • > 3 years old: 2.5 mg PO at HS or 2.5 PO TID PRN.

Adults: 2.5 mg PO QID.

Pre-Operative Sedation:
Children: 2 to 4 mg/kg PO 90 min. pre-op.
  • Extrapyramidal symptoms are common in children.


Standard Prescription:

trimeprazine __mg PO__(frequency) (PRN)

trimeprazine__mg PO 90 min pre-op (__mg/kg/dose)
