Immune suppressant

tablet: 50 mg
injection: 100 mg/vial
suspension (BCCH): 10 mg/mL
Transplantation, solid organ:
Initial: 3-5 mg/kg/24 hr IV or PO daily beginning at the time of transplant.
Maintenance: 1-3 mg/kg/24 hr IV or PO daily.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease:
1-3 mg/kg/day IV/ PO daily.
Maximum daily dose 4 mg/kg/24 hours, or 200 mg per day.
Doses higher than 2 mg/kg should be guided by thiopurine metabolite levels.
Bone marrow suppressive.

Monitor hematological status and liver function

May also cause rash, stomatitis, GI disturbances.

Reduce dose in renal impairment.

allopurinol significantly interacts with azathioprine; reduce dose of azathioprine by 1/3 to 1/4 of usual dose
