DEXTRAN 40 (Paeds) (Gentran) Mechanism of action: Dextran is a complex branched glucan (polysaccharide) and provides an osmotically neutral fluid. Ref: 44 Last update: 2019-01-22	Injection: 10% Dextran 40 in D5W (500 mL bag)	Pediatrics: Infuse 1 g/kg/24 hour (Max: 2 g/kg/day for first 24 hours then 1 g/kg/day thereafter). (1 g = 10 mL of 10% solution)	Plasma volume expander Maximum 5 days of therapy. Risk of anaphylactic/anaphylactoid reaction. Standard Prescription: Dextran 40 10% __ ml IV over __ mins (__ ml/kg)
