CICLESONIDE (Paeds) (Alvesco) Mechanism of action: Inhaled corticosteroid Ref: 127, 189, 197, 198 Last update: 2022-06-17	MDI inhaler: 100 mcg/puff (120doses/canister). 200mcg/puff (30 doses/canister).	Low dose: 100-200 mcg/dose inhaled once daily Medium dose: >200-400 mcg/dose inhaled once daily High dose: 400 mcg/dose inhaled once to twice daily	Use with valved holding chamber (e.g. Aerochamber) recommended. Significant improvements may be seen within 4-7 days. Dose depends upon severity and response. Titrate to lowest effective dose. High dose may be associated with significant side effects - refer to asthma specialists. Side effects: dysphonia, hoarseness and oral thrush may be present but less prevalent than other inhaled corticosteroids.
