Standard Prescription
dapsone__mg PO daily (__mg/kg/24hr)
Dosages
Leprosy:
Children: 1 mg/kg/dose PO daily. Max. 100 mg/dose.
Adults: 100 mg/dose daily.
Prophylaxis of Pneumocystis jiroveci in immunocompromised patients:
Children: 1 mg/kg/dose PO daily. Max. 100 mg/dose.
Adults: 100 mg/dose daily.
Prophylaxis of Pneumocystis jiroveci in immunocompromised patients:
Children: 2 mg/kg/dose PO once daily.
Max: 100 mg/dose or 4 mg/kg/dose PO once weekly. Max. 200 mg/dose.

Comments
Perform CBC with differential and platelet counts (2 weeks after starting therapy, then monthly).
Should not be used alone in the treatment of leprosy.
Cotrimoxazole is the drug of choice for prophylaxis of PCP.
