Dosages
Acute heavy uterine bleeding (adolescents):
25 mg IV Q4-6H x 24 hours or until bleeding stops or slows
25 mg IV Q4-6H x 24 hours or until bleeding stops or slows
Topical use for fused labia:
Apply a pea-sized amount once or twice daily x 2-6 weeks.. Mechanism of Action

Comments
IV indicated for individuals who are unable to tolerate PO.
For use in abnormal uterine bleeding it is recommended that the gynecology service be consulted.
Topical therapy may continue as long as 12 weeks but there is an increased risk of systemic estrogen effects (eg breast development, vaginal bleeding).
Use antiemetic therapy concurrently to avoid significant nausea.
