norepinephrine __mcg/kg/min continuous IV infusion
Dosages
Hypotension/shock:
Infants and Children: 0.02 - 0.1 mcg/kg/min
Titrate to desired effects, Max: 1-2 mcg/kg/min.

Alpha-1 and beta-1 adrenergic agonist

Comments
Correct intravascular volume before initiating norepinephrine.
May cause tachycardia, dysrhythmias, headache
Central line is preferred.
Extravasation can cause tissue necrosis.
For treatment of extravasation: Phentolamine 0.1 mL of 0.5 mg/mL is infiltrated intradermally around the site; see phentolamine monograph. Do not give phentolamine IV as hemodynamic instability may result.
Protect from light.
