Comments
Ketorolac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAID) and therefore has the potential to cause nausea, GI toxicity, inhibition of platelet function and acute renal failure.
Do not use in renal or hepatic failure.
Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration. Convert to oral NSAID as soon as possible. Not to exceed 72 hours of treatment (infants, children < 2 years) or 5 days (children > 2 years and adolescents).
Oral ketorolac is not studied in pediatrics and is not available at BCCH. Refer to ibuprofen or naproxen for alternate oral NSAIDs.
