Standard Prescription
methylene blue__mg IV x 1 dose (__mg/kg/dose) or (__mg/m2/dose)
Dosages
Methemoglobinemia:
1 to 2 mg/kg/dose or 25 to 50 mg/m2/dose IV over 5 min.
May repeat in 1 hr PRN.

Antidote for acquired methemoglobinemia; oxidizing agent

Comments
Do not inject SC or IT
May cause methemoglobinemia with high doses.
Use with caution in renal insufficiency, and G6PD deficiency
Causes blue-green discolouration of urine and feces.
