tetracycline__mg PO Q__H (__mg/kg/24hr)
Dosages
Children > 8 years old:
6-12.5 mg/kg/dose PO Q6H.
Maximum: 500 mg/dose
Adults:
250-500 mg/dose PO Q6-12H.

Comments
Contraindicated in children < 8 years old because of the risk of permanent discolouration of teeth. Doxycycline is a safer alternative in this age group.
Do not give with dairy products or with any divalent cations (Fe++ , Ca++ , Mg++).
Photosensitivity may occur (avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight).
