Etanercept __ mg SC once weekly ( __ mg/kg/dose)
Dosages
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis and Plaque Psoriasis:
0.8 mg/kg/dose SC once weekly (Max 50 mg/dose)
Twice weekly dosing: 0.4 mg/kg/dose SC twice weekly given 72-96 hours apart
0.8 mg/kg/dose SC once weekly (Max 50 mg/dose)
Twice weekly dosing: 0.4 mg/kg/dose SC twice weekly given 72-96 hours apart
Mechanism of Action
a TNF inhibitor, functioning as a decoy receptor that binds to TNF.
Forms Supplied
Injection: 25 mg/mL
Comments
Adverse effects include injection site irritation, headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, nausea and infection.
Risk of infection: do not use in patients with severe infection. All patients should be evaluated for both active and latent tuberculosis before starting treatment.
Administration of live vaccinations to patients receiving etanercept not recommended
