Standard Prescription

Treatment: chloroquine__mg base (__mg base/kg) PO daily on days 1 and 2, __mg base (__mg base/kg) on day 3 (__mg base/kg total)

Dosages

Treatment:
16.7 mg/kg/dose PO (Maximum 1000 mg/dose), then 8.3 mg/kg/dose PO at 6h, 24h, and 48h (Maximum 500 mg/dose)

Comments

Each 250 mg tablet of chloroquine phosphate contains 150 mg of chloroquine base.

Use only for patients who have documented P. vivax, P. ovale or P. malariae malaria or who have traveled to an area with chloroquine-susceptible P. falciparum malaria.
